Welcome
to the Black Child Development Institute of Seattle (BCDI-Seattle). 
In 1973, Bunny Wilburn founded BCDI-Seattle.  Bunny was and remains a steadfast advocate for all children, with a special devotion to African American children. 
BCDI-Seattle is an organization of dedicated volunteers. 
We are part of a network of 42 affiliates, spanning 22 states, that is connected with the
National Black Child Development Institute - NBCDI.

“Reclaiming & Awakening the African Mind for Greatness! ”
Dr. Hardiman is a college professor, storyteller & urban activist. She is the past director of the Evergreen State College - Tacoma campus, President & Founder of Ancestral Art Works Inc, founding member of the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations (ASCAC) & a Fulbright scholar. She holds a doctorate in Applied Literary Studies with an Emphasis in Ancient
Egypt Literature.

1:30 pm Luncheon Keynote – Queen Nzinga Heru
“Unlocking the Genius of Our Children through Cultural Reclamation & Preservation”
Nzinga Ratibisha Heru serves as International President of the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations (ASCAC) & is co-founder & Executive Director of Rivers Run Deep Institute (RRDI). She has been involved in cultural reclamation & preservation for over the past 35 years with a diverse experience in the field of African & African-American Studies, focusing on the lives & legacies of women. She has lectured on African and African-American women in history as models of both thought & practice.  Ms. Heru is a member of the International Black Women’s Congress (IBWC) & the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE). She serves on the Advisory Boards of California State University Dominguez Hills & Africana Studies Department. Ms Heru has received numerous awards for her scholarship & service. Her current work focuses on Health & Education.
